This page lists information relating to attending the conference.

Conference Location

The conference will be held at the Red Lion Hotel , with rooms at $109.00 (US) per night from Saturday (9/26) to the following Saturday (10/3). (Extensions of this rate may be possible. Inquire when you make a reservation.)

To register for a room at the conference hotel, you must call the Red Lion at (800) 343-1822. Be certain to mention that you are with the Tcl (TICKLE) Conference to get the Tcl/Tk Conference room rate. The corporate registration office does not know about our block rate.

These rooms will be released to the general public after August 28, so be sure to reserve your room early.

The room rate is $109/night.

Transportation

Air

Portland is served by Portland International Airport (PDX).

Take the MAX Train from the airport to the hotel. Red Lion will reimburse the $1.80 for the train fare.

You can reach the hotel from the airport by Taxi if you prefer that.

Ground

Portland, OR is served by Greyhound and Amtrak.

Local

It will not be necessary to rent a car for the duration of the conference.

Food and Shopping

The Trimet train will take you to Old Town and the Alexis Greek Restaurant. There are other fine places in this area including Kells Irish Pub .

The train will also take you to Pioneer Place , and Pioneer Courthouse Square There are several places in this area for eating.

Closer to the hotel is Stanford's, and the Llyod Center Shopping Mall.

Powells Books (with whole separate technical book store a couple blocks from the main store) is about 10 block walk up Burnside from Old Town.

Connectivity

The hotel has internet connections in each room and wireless access in the public area.

For presenters, computers will be available for use during your presentation. These will be equipped with Linux or Windows 2000 with MS Office or OpenOffice.

Portland

For those of you coming early or staying late, Portland is a beautiful city with many offerings to entertain you.
